Cursor context that does not die with the window

Cursor and Pando, for context handoff.

Cursor is very good at the file in front of you. It is not where the reasoning lives: why this shape and not the obvious one, what the migration is waiting on, which of two libraries was rejected and for what.

Keep the reasoning outside the editor, in an outline the agent reaches over MCP, so a new window starts with the decisions rather than with the files.

Set it up

  1. Add {"mcpServers": {"pando": {"url": "https://pando.ink/mcp"}}} to ~/.cursor/mcp.json, so it works in every project.
  2. Restart Cursor, switch pando on under Customize, then MCPs, and approve the sign-in in Pando.
  3. If Pando answers “That is not where this connector said to send you”, Cursor fell back to its older cursor:// sign-in, which it does when port 8787 is taken. Free the port and try again, or add "headers": {"Authorization": "Bearer <key>"} to the entry, with the key of an agent you create under Agents and API keys.

Cursor no longer learns a memory of its own. The Memories feature it added in 2025 is gone, and its documentation page now forwards to Rules. What carries over between sessions is what a person writes: rules in .cursor/rules, AGENTS.md or CLAUDE.md, and a search over past chats.

What goes in the outline and what stays in the repository

The rule is whether the repository already records it. A function signature, a test, a migration file: the repository has those and the agent can read them. Why the migration is scheduled for a Sunday, which two people have to approve it, and what the rollback is: those are in somebody’s head, and that is what the outline is for.

Working across two editors

Cursor and Claude Code can both connect to the same outline. One of them writes a decision down, the other reads it, and neither has to be the same session or the same machine. That is the part a rules file in one checkout cannot do.

What it costs

Nothing, for 1,000 bullets. Agent access is on the free plan and stays there: the tokens are paid for by your own subscription, so Pando has nothing to resell and no reason to meter the calls.
