Review questions ChatGPT writes and you tick on your phone
The notes run to pages and the exam is three weeks off. ChatGPT can boil them down in a chat, and the summary stays in that chat, which is enough for reading it once. What you want on the bus is the course as a short outline: the questions you must be able to answer, and a mark on each one you already can.
Yes, if the questions live in Pando: add Pando to ChatGPT once on the web at a computer, give ChatGPT your lecture notes there, and ask it to write a study outline into Pando, a bullet per topic with its key points and every review question as a to-do. On your phone you open the same outline at pando.ink/app and tick each question once you can answer it; whether ChatGPT can also write into it from its phone app is not established.
Set it up
- On a computer, open ChatGPT on the web, then Settings, then Security and login, and turn on Developer mode. The phone app cannot do this step.
- Go to Plugins, select +, and create one with https://pando.ink/mcp under Connection.
- Approve the connection when ChatGPT sends you back to Pando. After that, ChatGPT reaches Pando on your phone too.
In a test on a Free account on 23 September 2026, ChatGPT connected and wrote into Pando, though OpenAI’s pricing page lists Developer mode as No on Free. In each chat, choose Developer mode from the + menu and select the app you created. Use a regular chat: one report on OpenAI’s forum got "This conversation does not support developer MCPs" in a Project chat.
Make a bullet called Study first, for the courses to go under. Pando’s consent page offers Read and write your outline or Read your outline only, and either one starts ChatGPT on your whole outline. Choose Read and write, or it cannot write in Study until you hold it there. To hold it there, open Study, open Agents and API keys in Settings, tap ChatGPT’s row under Your agents (@chatgpt, or @chatgpt-2 and up if you connected it before), and press Let it reach only “Study”, the bullet you are in. It then reads and writes Study and everything under it, even after a read-only approval, and reaches nothing else. What it remembers from then on lands in Study too, beside the courses, not among the questions.
What it looks like
At the computer, paste the notes into the chat. Say as a to-do, because the box belongs to each bullet and only the questions should have one:
Turn these lecture notes into a study outline under Study in Pando: a bullet for the course, a heading for each topic, its key points as plain bullets under it, and every review question as a to-do. Leave the answers out.
By default ChatGPT asks you to confirm before it writes. After two ticks, the course looks like this on your phone, the ticked lines struck through and greyed:
• Study
• Cell biology, weeks 1 to 3
• Membrane transport
• Diffusion needs no energy; active transport does.
• The sodium-potassium pump moves 3 Na+ out, 2 K+ in.
☑ Why does active transport need energy?
☐ What does the pump use its ATP for?
• Mitosis
• Prophase, metaphase, anaphase, telophase.
☑ What happens in anaphase?
☐ How does mitosis differ from meiosis?
Reviewing on your phone
Pando runs in the phone’s browser at pando.ink/app, and added to the home screen it opens without the browser bars. Answer each question in your head, and when you can, tap its box or swipe its row to the right: it is struck through, greyed, and stays in its place. Hide, further along the bottom bar, then leaves only what you still have to learn, but it hides ticked lines in your whole outline, not only in Study, until you press Show.
Later, ask ChatGPT which questions are still open: a search of the course for layout:todo is:incomplete returns only the unticked ones. That search only reads, so it is worth trying from the phone app too.
Where this is not the answer
- You only want to read the summary. It stays in the ChatGPT conversation, with no setup.
- Reviewing at the right moment. Pando has no spaced repetition: it schedules no review of these questions, and it never starts ChatGPT by itself. Anki is built for that: "Rate your recall with the most suitable option and Anki will schedule the next review for when you’re most likely to forget the information." AnkiDroid for Android is free; AnkiMobile is the official iOS app.
- Being quizzed right now. ChatGPT’s own study mode needs no setup, is "available across ChatGPT plans globally on web, iOS, and Android", and you can "ask it to quiz you one question at a time, wait for your answer, and explain what to review next."
- Adding questions through ChatGPT on the phone. That is not established, and a report on OpenAI’s forum in November 2025 quoted the phone app’s error: "MCP write actions are currently disabled". Type the question into Pando yourself: [] and a space on an empty line makes a to-do.
