A Cline Memory Bank every project can read

Cline and Pando, for a memory bank across projects.

Cline has no memory feature of its own. The Memory Bank is the method its docs recommend instead: paste a block of instructions into a Cline Rules file, and Cline keeps six Markdown files in a memory-bank folder and reads all of them at the start of every task. The instructions open with Cline saying it plainly: "my memory resets completely between sessions."

The Memory Bank lives in one project’s memory-bank folder, so connect Cline to Pando and keep the same six headings in a branch of your outline, which every project and machine reaches, and so does every agent you allow to read it.

Set it up

  1. In the Cline panel open MCP Servers, then the Remote Servers tab. Name it pando, give it https://pando.ink/mcp, keep Streamable HTTP, and click Add Server.
  2. Click Authenticate on the pando row and approve the sign-in in Pando.

Then add one line to .clinerules: read the Memory Bank branch in Pando at the start of every task, and update it when the task ends. That line is the whole change to the method.

The six headings, as bullets

Memory Bank: billing service
  Project brief
  Product context
Active context <- what is being worked on now
  System patterns
  Tech context
Progress <- what works, what is left

The same files the method names, each one a bullet with its children as the content. The docs’ own FAQ says the method "works with any AI that can read docs", so moving it into an outline changes where it lives, not how it works.

What each place is for

Why an outline suits it

Active context and Progress change on every task. In an outline Cline rewrites one bullet instead of a whole file, you correct a line from your phone, and Claude Code or Codex in the next repository reads the same state without a copy.

What it costs

Nothing, for 1,000 bullets, with agents included and no card. Pando does not meter agent calls.
